Joaquin Castro labels Laura Ingraham ‘a white nationalist’

Democratic Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro labeled Fox News host Laura Ingraham “a white nationalist” Wednesday during a heated debate between the two on social media.

Castro, the chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, was one of several members of Congress who toured multiple migrant detention centers at the southern border earlier this week. He secretly took photos and videos of the facilities despite Border Patrol agents having collected people’s phones prior to the tour.

One of the many posts he made about the trip included a short video showing what the showers look like at the detention center in Clint, Texas.

Ingraham quote-tweeted this tweet from Castro and added, “Similar to Army facilities in Iraq I saw (and used) visiting Camp Victory & Balad. Think @JoaquinCastrotx needs to spend more time overseas w/ our troops bef he calls this inhumane.”

“You’re a white supremacist, Laura,” Castro pushed back a couple hours later. “And, no, I don’t think refugees should be kept in war-zone conditions in the most prosperous nation on earth.”

Ingraham has previously faced backlash for comments she made on her show about the detention centers. Last month, she likened them to being “essentially summer camps.”
