With the mounds of snow piled up all over the District, it’s a tad difficult to think ahead to summer, but the Washington Kastles tennis team hopes you’ll try.
The coed tennis team announced Thursday there will be even more star power on its roster this year: Venus Williams will join her sister, Serena, and each champion will play one home game for the Kastles in D.C.
Overall, Serena Williams will represent Washington for four matches, and Venus Williams, three.
“There’s something special about playing in the middle of downtown D.C. in that setting with the great support of our fans,” Serena Williams said in a statement.
The Kastles are part of World TeamTennis, which puts two female players and two male players together on a team and encourages a boisterous audience. Games are scheduled for July, and the rest of the summer lineup will be decided in March.
