Injured Harry Reid returns to Senate

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has returned to Congress for the first time this year, his staff said Tuesday.

Reid was injured in a New Year’s Day accident while working out at the gym back home in Nevada.

Reid broke several ribs as well as bones in his face while using resistance bands. The accident has seriously damaged the vision in his right eye, which remains covered by a bandage.

The Democrat returns to take on the new role of minority leader after losing the majority to Republicans in November.

Reid had been working from home since Congress reconvened earlier this month while Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., the minority whip, has taken on his responsibilities.
