SALT LAKE CITY — The Senate has approved legislation requiring state and local government offices, the attorney general’s office and legislative attorneys to ensure someone on staff learns more about state’s rights.

Senators voted 15-12 on Wednesday night to advance the measure. The House must approve several changes in order for it to advance to Gov. Gary Herbert.
