Shenandoah tour bus goes through fiery Texas wreck

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Members of the country group Shenandoah have escaped injury when their tour bus was part of a fiery wreck in Southeast Texas.

The crash happened early Saturday on the Neches (NAY’-chess) River Bridge in Beaumont.

Shenandoah spokesman Don Murry Grubbs said Monday that the bus with band members and crew was eastbound on Interstate 10 after a show Friday night in Stafford, near Houston. He says the bus was following two vehicles when the back of one hit another hauling a fuel tank, sparking an explosion.

Drummer Mike McGuire says the bus was sideswiped and went through the fireball.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a suspected drunken driver in a pickup truck will face charges. Two people in the other truck were transported to a hospital for treatment.
