Michael Avenatti: ‘No question’ Christine Blasey Ford is ‘credible’

Lawyer Michael Avenatti defended the credibility of Christine Blasey Ford, one of the women who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, as she testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

In a tweet, Avenatti said there is no doubt Ford is reliable.

“I have witnessed well over 500 witnesses testify in court and in deposition over the course of my career,” Avenatti said. “There is no question that Dr. Ford is credible. This nomination must be withdrawn immediately and an honest, moral individual should be nominated. America deserves better.”

Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of forcing himself on to her at a party in the early 1980s, testified that she is “100 percent” certain Kavanaugh was the one who assaulted her.

Several women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, including Avenatti’s client Julie Swetnick. Swetnick, who graduated from Gaithersburg High School in Maryland, claimed Wednesday she saw Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge drink “excessively” and “engage in highly inappropriate conduct” while attending house parties in the Washington, D.C., area in the early 1980s.

She also claimed Kavanaugh and his friend Judge tried to drug girls so they could “then be ‘gang raped’” by multiple boys. She alleged that she was gang-raped at a party where Kavanaugh was present.

Kavanaugh will appear before the committee Thursday after Ford’s testimony. He has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
