Speaking with reporters this morning, ACU Chairman Al Cardenas confirmed reports that Romney met privately with leading conservative activists yesterday at CPAC and suggested that Gingrich and Santorum would do the same.
“Romney asked to meet a few people and that meeting took place,” said Cardenas, who said that he attended the meeting “briefly.”
Cardenas said that other political leaders such as John Boener met privately with activists yesterday and suggested that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would do the same today.
“I understand that Rick Santorum is having a group of people to meet with, I had heard that Newt Gingrich’s group are planning the same thing,” Cardenas said, “We don’t really keep track of the candidates’ or the leaderships’ schedules in terms of what other activities they undertake here other than the arranged speaking schedule, but most of them fill up with quite a few events around CPAC.”
