Nancy Pelosi: The focus on 2016 Democratic primaries ‘almost a waste of time’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called the focus on revelations from former interim Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile that Hillary Clinton’s campaign had control over the party’s finances and operations “almost a waste of time.” “I haven’t read her book. I have great respect for her and for Hillary Clinton and everyone concerned,” Pelosi said of Brazile during an interview on CNN. “But not knowing the facts of what it is, I would hope there’s another side to the story. But that’s neither here nor there. It’s almost a waste of time, except for people to put their view of it on the record.”

In an excerpt of her new book published in Politico, Brazile said she found an agreement between the DNC and Clinton’s campaign indicating Clinton had control over the party’s financial and strategic operations.

The agreement was signed one year before Clinton became the Democratic presidential nominee.

Brazile’s revelations confirmed suspicions from supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders, who believed the DNC tipped the scales to ensure Clinton clinched the nomination, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said Friday she believed the DNC was rigged in Clinton’s favor.

Pelosi said she believes Democrats “have to go forward” and said she hopes the DNC now focuses on “electing Democrats up and down the ballot.”
