Abbott accuses Jean-Pierre of being ‘uninformed’ on border

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) brushed off criticisms from the White House following his border policies and instead claimed its spokeswoman is “uninformed” on the situation.

Abbott appeared on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom Thursday to respond to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who accused the governor of making it “harder for law enforcement at the border to do their job.” Jean-Pierre has long criticized Abbott on behalf of the administration in press conferences and television interviews.

“Obviously it’s a very uninformed comment on her part,” Abbott said of the press secretary. “There is only one person in America not doing their job, the president of the United States, who is not enforcing immigration laws.”

The Texas governor went on to debunk reports of migrants dying along the border between his state and Mexico. According to Abbott, the Biden administration has been spreading that “false narrative” in order to rouse opposition to the razor wire Texas has installed at its border.

“The only thing that the spokesperson for Biden can do is to cast aspersions and lies hoping people will believe them,” Abbott said. “Because the truth of the matter is, what Texas is doing is what Americans expect to be done. Americans expect the border to be secure because Joe Biden has abandoned that responsibility. Texas is stepping up and doing it with all that razor wire you’re showing right now.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection processed more than 302,000 people at the U.S.-Mexico border in December alone. This is in addition to the over 10 million immigrants who have reportedly entered the country illegally since Biden took office. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.
