Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren revealed that she earned $1.9 million while working as a private attorney.
Warren and her 2020 competitor Pete Buttigieg have been in a spat over public disclosures as the senator demands that the South Bend, Indiana, mayor reveal the clients he served while working at McKinsey & Co., a management consultant firm. In response, Buttigieg demanded she discloses her tax filings from before 2008 to show her private earnings as an attorney.
Warren disclosed that she’d earned $1.9 million from her corporate legal clients since 1986.
“We must nominate a candidate who can create the most robust possible contrast against Republicans on conflicts of interest and corruption issues,” campaign spokesperson Kristen Orthman said in a statement to Politico.
Warren, 70, and Buttigieg, 37, have been battling among the top four candidates throughout the campaign alongside former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
