Rep. Sharice Davids (D-KS) secured a return to Congress by defeating former state GOP Chairwoman Amanda Adkins (R-KS) in Kansas’s 3rd Congressional District.
The district, which voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump 51.2%-46.7% in the 2020 presidential election, covers the Kansas City suburbs of Overland Park and Olathe and was the second time in a row Davids beat Adkins.
Sharice DavidsFirst elected in 2018 during the “blue wave” when Democrats picked up 41 seats in the House, Adkins has focused her congressional career on transportation and infrastructure, among other topics, by serving as vice chairwoman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Adkins had attempted to attach Davids to Biden, but ultimately the congresswoman was able to not be brought down by the unpopular leader.
