Virginia police cancel Amber Alert after abducted 3-year-old girl found safe

POLICE IDENTIFY DC WOMAN KILLED IN CASE LINKED TO ‘SHOPPING CART KILLER’

Officials issued the alert on Tuesday after Amelia Marianna Kraus was reportedly abducted by Catherine Agnes Kraus, the girl’s mother who does not have custody rights. Amelia was found safe in West Virginia on Wednesday morning, according to police.

“Thank you to our detectives, our community and our law enforcement partners for your help in bringing Amelia home safe,” the Virginia State Police said.

The girl was taken around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Alexandria, Virginia, by her mother, whom officials believe had shaved her head and was wearing a wig. Kraus has since been taken into custody and faces charges of abduction.
