It was the city’s first parade since the domestic terrorist attack in which a man drove a car into a crowd, killing six people during a Christmas parade in November. Two other terrorist attacks — one in Buffalo, New York, and one in Uvalde, Texas — have happened since then, and President Joe Biden has visited each city. Yet Waukesha is still waiting for its visit from Biden.

Waukesha set up mobile vehicle barricades as a precaution to protect parade attendees this week. It’s a reminder of the horror that happened last November — a horror that Biden has still not acknowledged with his presence. The White House said it required too many resources to make the trip to Waukesha.

“Obviously, any president going to visit a community requires a lot of assets … requires taking their resources,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at the time. Apparently, the concern over resources didn’t matter for Buffalo or Uvalde. Simply put, Biden thinks he can benefit politically by visiting minority victims instead of white ones.

Biden didn’t visit Waukesha because he would not get any political benefit from it. The attacker, Darrell Brooks, was black, and the victims were white. So Biden could not use the “country is racist and full of white supremacy” narrative. Moreover, because Brooks used his car to hurt innocent people, Biden couldn’t use the “country has a gun problem, and it’s the NRA’s fault” narrative.

Because this massacre did not serve him politically, Biden wanted it out of the news cycle as quickly as possible. Any incident in which a black man kills white people in a domestic terrorist attack runs counter to Biden’s (and the Democrats’) political agenda. If he had visited the city, it would have necessitated even more media attention — the opposite of Biden’s goals.

Biden’s actions are inexcusable. He is the leader of the country, not just the people whose tragedies he can exploit for political gain. Such antics are a disgrace, and Biden deserves to be called out on them.
