Biden, 80, has repeated that his decision to run again in 2024 depends on whether he has his family’s support as they consider his age along with the consequences of a campaign and another four years in office for them. But although Jill Biden was not a “proponent” early last fall and is “exhausted” after a kaleidoscope of White House and midterm engagements, she has warmed to the idea, particularly since the Democrats outperformed expectations in last month’s election cycle, according to CNN.

“[Jill Biden] is the one more aware of how the last few years have affected Joe [Biden,]” one source said. “We, collectively, as a country, all know the age issue, sure. But she’s the one who is consistently able to analyze it.”
“She’s the one who thinks about every possible scenario that could play out for her family,” another added after Jill Biden opposed her husband’s candidacy in 2004 and 2016.
Biden’s private conversations with advisers and allies are similar to a remark she made to French President Emmanuel Macron during his state visit. The New York Times reported this month that she told Macron during his state dinner that her husband was “absolutely” serious about seeking reelection. Former President Donald Trump is the only confirmed candidate so far.
White House chief of staff Ron Klain has also expressed his expectation Joe Biden will launch a 2024 campaign.
During his post-election press conference, Biden reiterated his “intention” to contest the presidency again, but he went on to describe it as “a family decision.”

“I think everybody wants me to run, but we’re going to have discussions about it. I hope Jill and I get a little time to actually sneak away for a week around, between Christmas and Thanksgiving. And my guess is it would be early next year we make that judgment,” he said.
A CNN poll this week found that roughly 60% of registered Democrats do not want the president to top their 2024 ticket, the same percentage of Republicans who feel the same about Trump and a 2020 rematch.
