In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Neil Bush says his brother should run for president of the United States. “I personally would like to see him do it,” Neil Bush says.
A partial transcript of the interview was emailed by Bloomberg:
REGAN: So long as we have you here, Neil, what are your thoughts on [Jeb] running? Do you think he will actually —
BUSH: I really, honestly, don’t know whether he will run or not. I’m a big Jeb Bush fan. I’m a little bit biased. I mean, I’ve tracked his career and record as governor of Florida. You know, my mom famously said that there are too many – there are more candidates out there – we have more candidates…and just two families and maybe Jeb shouldn’t run. And I think she’s come around now. Honestly, because so many people have come up to her and said ‘you know, Jeb’s the best qualified guy. This country needs leadership. And he can bring the country together.’ So, even my mom, I think, is starting to swing a little bit. Jeb’s going to have to make a very personal decision about whether he wants his family to go through this and whether he feels he can enter the campaign fray with joy.
REGAN: But you’d like to see him do it? Maybe now your mom’s coming around.
BUSH: I personally would like to see him do it because I think he’s such a good man. He is such a deeply thoughtful, patriotic, caring American. And so, the one thing I can be assured of is that if he were elected president he would serve with honor.
