One man was killed and two were injured during an incident early Monday morning in Dale City, said Officer Erika Hernandez, a spokesman for the Prince William County Police Department.

According to police, the shootings occurred at about 2:40 a.m. in the 4600 block of Whitaker Place. Police are not saying whether one person or several are responsible for the shootings. The deceased man has been identified as 23-year-old Jermaine Antonio Williams, who lived in the home where the shootings occurred. A 22-year-old man also suffered gunshot wounds but has been released from a local hospital. Another man was injured by broken glass as he tried to escape from the residence during the shooting. Police are not releasing the identities of either injured man.

Hernandez said police believe the shooter or shooters entered the house through the front door and shot the two men. Williams ran to a nearby street and knocked on doors, trying to get help. Neighbors called 911, but Williams had died when paramedics arrived. The second victim ran to a nearby gas station, where the clerk called 911.

Prince William County police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and are trying to determine how many suspects were involved. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call the Prince William County Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS. Callers can leave information anonymously and are eligible for $1,000 rewards.
