ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The Department of Environmental Conservation is giving the public an additional seven days to comment on the management plans for the Essex Chain Lakes and nearby snowmobile trail in the Adirondacks.

The plan for the Essex Chain Lakes near Newcomb (http://on.ny.gov/1uDz1XF ) proposes to allow mountain bikes on some woods roads, allow seasonal motorized access for big game hunting, construct parking areas and designate canoe carries. It will also build a bridge over the Cedar River for hiking and horses, and possibly snowmobiles in the future.

The draft multi-use trail plan (http://on.ny.gov/1uDz1XF ) proposes locations for trails for snowmobiles and other uses between Newcomb, Minerva and North Hudson. It also proposes campsites around Great Camp Santanoni and the Hudson River near Northwoods Club Road.

Comments are open through July 25.
