An 80-year-old man has died from injuries suffered when the car he was driving hit a tree in his front yard.
Fairfax County police said David Marvil pulled up to the mailbox in front of his house on the 900 block of Woburn Court. For unknown reasons, he accelerated to the right side of his driveway and hit a tree in the front yard.
Police said Marvil, the only occupant in the 1998 Jeep Wrangler, was transported by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon and Marvil died the next day, police said.
