Grassley sets Judiciary Committee vote on Gorsuch nomination for April 3

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley set a committee vote on Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination for April 3.

Monday’s hearings on Gorsuch’s nomination featured opening statements from the senators, and the federal appeals court judge will take questions Tuesday. Grassley used his opening statement to urge the judge not to worry.

“The nominee before us understands that any judge worth his salt will ‘regularly issue judgments with which they disagree as a matter of policy — all because they think that’s what the law fairly demands,'” Grassley said. “Fundamentally, that is the difference between a legislator and a judge. All of us should keep this in mind during the course of this hearing.”

The April 3 plan for a committee vote on Gorsuch’s nomination is two weeks after the start of his nomination hearings and several days before Congress adjourns for its Easter recess.
