A man has been sentenced to life in prison for attacking a 16-year-old Maryland girl and raping her under a bridge in 2004.
Najarred Walker was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison plus 10 years for sexually assaulting the girl near a Frederick park, according to the Frederick News-Post.
Walker, 28, was charged in the attack last year after DNA linked him to the crime. His DNA was put into a national database after he was convicted in Tennessee of drunk driving and aggravated assault.
In the Maryland case, authorities say he threatened the girl and told her not to scream, then raped her. The girl went to a hospital, where officials obtained the DNA sample.
Walker was convicted in March of first-degree rape and other offenses.
