A developer is seeking approval for a development of 25 townhouses adjacent to the Westfield Wheaton Plaza Mall and within a complex of single-family homes. Four of the townhouses would be moderately priced units. A separate single-family home is also included in the development.
The development would be behind the Giant Food grocery store on University Boulevard near the mall. It is currently an empty lot surrounded by single family homes.
The Montgomery County Planning Board is scheduled to take up the application by Kensington Heights LLC Thursday at its weekly meeting. The proposal is part of the Wheaton Master Plan, which recommends for this particular intersection a development that would “buffer existing single-family residences from adverse effects associated with major traffic arteries.”
