President Trump took aim at impeachment on Christmas Eve as he talked to reporters at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
“They treated us worse than anybody’s been treated from a legal standpoint in the history of the United States,” the president said Tuesday.
Trump railed against the nation’s surveillance court and “dirty cops” who spied on his 2016 campaign as “the people who started this whole thing.” “What they’ve done to this country is incredible, and hopefully, it’s going to be taken care of,” he added.
The president ended his rant against impeachment by saying, “Alright, have a good time everybody, Merry Christmas.” The comments come as House Democrats debate whether or not to send articles of impeachment to the Republican-held Senate.
The House Judiciary Committee is attempting to get former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify and in recent court documents has signaled it might add more articles of impeachment against the president.
