The Baltimore Development Corp. has negotiated a 25-year lease, with two 20-year renewal periods, with Federal Hill Main Street Inc. for the former Cross Street Comfort Center at 42-44 E. Cross St.

For its part, Federal Hill Main Street, a community-based nonprofit working to revitalize the South Baltimore commercial area, plans to renovate the space into a visitor?s center.

Listed as a city surplus property, the ex-comfort station is located six blocks south of the Inner Harbor, directly across from the Cross Street Market in the heart of Federal Hill?s commercial district.

“The historic renovation of this property will save a fine example of local architecture, preserving part of Baltimore?s past,” said M.J. Jay Brodie, BDC president.
