Former Rep. Mike Rogers left Donald Trump’s transition team Tuesday morning in a reportedly abrupt fashion at the request of team members, according to multiple reports.
Rogers, the Michigan Republican who used to chair the House Intelligence Committee, was serving the Trump transition team as a national security adviser but announced Tuesday he was no longer involved. Bloomberg reported Rogers left the team at the request of team officials.
“It was a privilege to prepare and advise the policy, personnel and agency action teams on all aspects of the national security portfolio during the initial pre-election planning phase,” Rogers said. “Our work will provide a strong foundation for the new transition team leadership as they move into the post-election phase, which is naturally incorporating the campaign team in New York.”
Rogers said he was handing off his work to Vice President-elect Pence, who is leading the transition team, and other top members of Trump’s team.
In the last several days, the Trump’s team has suffered a tumultuous few days, after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was removed from his role leading the transition and replaced by Pence.
