Police shoot pit bulls after attack on pregnant woman
Montgomery County police said officers shot and killed two pit bullterrier mixes Wednesday after they began attacking their owner, who is pregnant.
Police said the woman, who was taken to a hospital with severe bites to her arm and scratches to her face, was walking the dogs at 10:30 a.m. when they became aggressive as another dog approached in the 8900 block of Clewiston Place.
The victim’s dogs began to attack each other but turned on her when she tried to stop them, police said.
Officers called to the scene shot the dogs, which were taken by the Animal Services Division for rabies testing, police said. – Courtney Mabeus
Home invasion in Bethesda
Montgomery County Police are looking for a man who broke into the home of an elderly Bethesda woman late Monday, officials said.
The man entered the home, located on the 7600 block of Maryknoll Avenue, by breaking a basement window, officials said. The man confronted the victim and, according a police statement, “restrained her” to a sofa while he ransacked her home.
Some personal items were taken, officials said. The man is described as being in his 20s, about 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He was dressed in black. Race is unknown, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call 240-773-5100. – Courtney Mabeus
Blaze chars restaurant
A fire broke out early Wednesday morning inside a Prince George’s County restaurant, causing $1 million in damage.
Mark Brady, a spokesman for the county fire department, said 75 firefighters responded to the fire in the Proud Mary Restaurant at the Fort Washington Arena, which was reported at 2:30 a.m. No injuries were reported and the fire has been ruled an accident. – Joe Rogalsky
