John Edwards campaigns on the theme of “Two Americas” —rich and poor. For his campaign adviser, Joe Trippi, it might be more like “Two Americas” —two-legged and four-legged.

This morning on Capitol Hill, Trippi takes a break from the campaign trail and joins the co-chairs of the Congressional Friends of the Animals Caucus — Reps. Tom Lantos, D-Calif., and Chris Shays, R-Conn. — for an event aimed at uniting people of all faiths (or as Edwards might call it, “The Seven Houses of Holy”).

And Trippi knows a thing or two about animals. He and his wife, Kathy Lash, have a minifarm in Wittman, Md., that features two horses, six goats, four chickens, two geese, one duck, one donkey, one miniature horse, three dogs and five cats.
