Mya performs, Gandolfini debuts; Crosby, Nash and Diddy on their way

D.C.’s own R&B star Mya was the star attraction Tuesday night at a fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Clinton at the Ibiza nightclub on First Street NE. Mya performed four songs to the throng of about 2,000 Hillary supporters.

Today, eagle-eyed Washingtonians may get a look at James Gandolfini, as the former small-screen gangster is in town to premiere his new HBO documentary, “Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq.”

Premiering on the cable network this Sunday, the film profiles 10 soldiers as they return home from Iraq with severe injuries. The documentary is the first production of Gandolfini’s new company, Attaboy Films.

» And mark your calendars, peace-lovers: The National Cathedral announced Tuesday that Graham Nash, David Crosby and Jackson Browne will headline “Pray for Peace,” a prayer ceremony and benefit concert on Oct. 16.

The concert is timed not only with the cathedral’s centennial celebrations, but with the visit by the Dalai Lama, who will receive the Congressional Gold Medal the following day.

During the Dalai Lama’s visit in 2003, Nash and Bishop John Bryson Chane promised to hold the concert when he returned. Also on the bill: Keb’ Mo’, Emily Saliers, Krishna Das and New York Democratic Rep. John Hall, formerly of the pop band Orleans./>
