Devin Nunes rips impeachment try: ‘It’s like Groundhog Day’

Three years into nonstop attempts by Democrats to impeach President Trump, California Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, has reached a point that while the days might change, the attacks on the White House are all the same.

“I’ve been living this, it’s like Groundhog Day, you know every day,” said the former Intelligence Committee chairman in reference to the Bill Murray movie in which he wakes up day after day, and it’s always Groundhog Day, and he’s a weatherman covering Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction

“I’ve been living this for the last three years,” he told our Larry O’Connor for his Examining Politics podcast.

Nunes has led the charge against the investigation, first on the dismissed Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 election, and now over Trump’s urging of Ukraine “to do us a favor” and look into allegations of Democratic hanky-panky in the election.

He said over that time, the “Russia hoaxsters” have now become the “Ukraine hoaxsters.”

O’Conner, also a host for WMAL in Washington and KABC in Los Angeles, pressed the lawmaker on other related issues and Nunes said:

  • The FBI set up former Trump national security adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
  • Declared that the FISA warrant applications from James Comey and the Department of Justice submitted for Carter Page were “fraudulent.”
  • Suggested that MI6 agent Christopher Steele may not have actually written the notorious “Russian dossier,” but instead, it was crafted by Fusion GPS directly.
