Trump meets with auto executives to pitch US manufacturing

President Trump is meeting with executives from top automotive companies Tuesday morning and plans to pitch them on making more of their vehicles in the United States.

Trump is scheduled to have a meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday with “key automobile industry leaders,” according to the White House. He said in a tweet Tuesday that his aim is to bring more jobs to the U.S.

“Will be meeting at 9:00 with top automobile executives concerning jobs in America. I want new plants to be built here for cars sold here!” Trump said.


It’s the second breakfast meeting with business leaders in as many days for Trump, who met with executives from numerous companies over breakfast at the White house on Monday. He also spent time meeting with organized labor representatives Monday afternoon.

Trump is also set to sign another executive order Tuesday afternoon, but details about the order weren’t available.

Trump will speak with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday and meet with newly confirmed Central Intelligence Agency Director Mike Pompeo.

Trump will wrap up his day by meeting with Senate leaders, including a private meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the White House stated.
