President Trump chastised Joe Biden for waffling on different policy ideas over the years.
“He has recalibrated on everything,” Trump told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an excerpt of an interview set to air on Sunday.
“Everything he’s said he’s taken back two weeks later because he’s getting slammed by the Left. And he stuck with this stuff. He’s really stuck with this,” the president added.
Last week Biden, the front-runner in the contest for the Democratic nomination, announced he was reversing his support for the Hyde Amendment, a provision that largely prohibits federal money being used for abortions. Biden had supported the amendment for years, but the former vice president had received pushback from fellow Democrats after his campaign signaled he still supported the amendment.
During the interview, Trump also went after Biden’s intellect, calling him “the weakest mentally” of the myriad Democrats vying for the Oval Office.
“He wanted to be the tough guy. He’s not a tough guy, he’s a weak guy,” Trump said of Biden.
Biden is leading the pack of roughly two dozen Democratic candidates, with a RealClearPolitics national average of polls placing him at 32.3% support.
