President-elect Trump reprised his campaign-era skepticism of voting security on Friday, by questioning the reliability of early voting during a get-out-the-vote event in Baton Rouge.
“It’s so long, and so many things can go wrong,” Trump said.
“I wonder what happens in the evening when those places are ‘locked,'” he added, pantomiming quotes around the word “locked” to suggest the polling places might be susceptible to fraud at night.
Democrats slammed Trump during the campaign for casting doubt on the electoral system, and some went so far as to accuse him of undermining democracy.
After Trump’s victory, however, it has been Democrats that have participated in efforts to secure recounts in states Trump won.
