Trump on Schumer: ‘I thought he’d be a deal maker not an obstructionist’

President Trump is “very disappointed” with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for not being “a deal maker” with the White House and GOP majorities in Congress, he says in a Fox News interview set to air Saturday evening.

“Chuck, I’m very disappointed in because he’s a guy who should make deals for the people — not as Democrat or Republican. I thought he’d be a deal maker. And instead he’s just an obstructionist. So, I’m disappointed in him,” Trump told host Jesse Watters in a pre-taped interview on Wednesday.

Watters, who regularly appears on Bill O’Reilly’s primetime show, asked Trump who he would fire given the choices of Schumer, CNN President Jeff Zucker and “SNL” actor Alec Baldwin.

“Well, I think the Alec Baldwin situation is not good,” Trump said. “And Jeff Zucker, I mean, I got him the job! I recommended him – no I didn’t recommend him. I got him the job. And CNN is just, you know, fake news! Who would I say? I don’t want to say, but I will say I’m disappointed in all three. I think the portrayal of me is ridiculous.”

Watters also asked Trump about his relationship with the Obama administration since coming into the Oval Office two months ago.

“Well, you know he’s been very nice to me personally,” Trump said about former President Barack Obama. “But his people haven’t been nice and there’s great animosity out there. There’s great anger. Leaking is just one example of it. In some cases, a very serious example of it, but leaking, and the level of anger is hard to believe. So, while he’s nice personally there doesn’t seem to be a lot of nice things happening behind the scenes. And that’s unfortunate.”

The full interview will address current policies the White House and congressional Republicans are advocating for.
