A Democratic National Committee policy platform officer said at a key meeting Wednesday that nobody should own a gun.
DNC Platform Committee Member Bonnie Schaefer of Florida, reacting to testimony from Mothers Demand Action For Gun Sense In America, said, “I do believe that you’re absolutely correct – not just keeping the guns out of mentally ill people and criminals, but I really don’t personally think anyone should have a gun. I mean, that’s just my own philosophy. Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand except the worst possible scenario.”
Her comment came three hours into the first day of the Democratic platform drafting committee hearing.
Schaefer also claimed that gun control is required.
“I think it’s disgusting that we in this country have such lax gun control. I think that the Republican Party is really remiss in putting down, setting out boundaries,” she added.
Her comments come at about 3:08 in this C-SPAN video.
