New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s chief of operations was arrested after an altercation with his wife in Georgetown and has resigned.
According to The New York Post, Stephen Goldsmith was arrested at a townhouse at 11:30 p.m. June 30. Police said Margaret Goldsmith, 59, called police after her husband shoved her into a kitchen counter.
“You’re not going to do this to me again,” Margaret Goldsmith allegedly told her husband. Stephen Goldsmith, 64, grabbed the phone, broke it on the ground, then grabbed his wife.
He was charged with simple assault and spent two days behind bars. The charges were dropped after the wife decided not to pursue the matter, she told The New York Post.
