Eric Trump on Wednesday defended his father, President Trump, from accusations of racism and said his father doesn’t care about race at all.
“My father sees one color: green. That’s all he cares about. He cares about the economy,” Trump told Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” Wednesday morning.
“He is the least racist person I ever met in my entire life. It is total nonsense. At the same time, they are saying that they will never report African-American unemployment is lowest it ever been,” he added.
Black unemployment fell to a record-low 6.8 percent in January.
Some Republican and Democratic senators said last week that Trump referred to Haiti and African nations as “shithole countries” during a private White House meeting with lawmakers. Democrats and Republicans in Congress said that was evidence of racism, and called on Trump to apologize for the comments.
GOP Sens. David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas both said they did not hear Trump use derogatory language in reference to low-income countries.
