President Donald Trump blasted Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) and former Virginia Rep. Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic gubernatorial candidates of New Jersey and Virginia, respectively, on Monday morning.
He questioned why anyone would vote for Sherrill or Spanberger. The president made the remarks on Truth Social on Monday before his scheduled visit to Japan. Trump stressed the political, cultural, and economic differences between Republican and Democratic platforms.
“Why would anyone vote for New Jersey and Virginia Gubernatorial Candidates, Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger, when they want transgender for everybody, men playing in women’s sports, High Crime, and the most expensive Energy prices almost anywhere in the World?” Trump said in his post. “VOTE REPUBLICAN for massive Energy Cost reductions, large scale Tax Cuts, and basic Common Sense!”
The president referenced the country’s gas prices, going so far as to say they will soon decrease to “approximately $2 a gallon.” He warned that with Democrats in charge, gas prices would significantly rise, predicting a price of $4 per gallon and higher. A week ago, one gas price analysis revealed that the average cost for a gallon of regular gas had dropped to under $3 per gallon.

“Under President Trump, ME, Gasoline will come down to approximately $2 a Gallon, very soon!” Trump said. “With the Democrats, you’ll be paying $4, $5, and $6 a Gallon, and your Electric and other Energy costs will, likewise, SOAR. VOTE REPUBLICAN FOR A GREAT AND VERY AFFORDABLE LIFE. All you’ll get from voting Democrat is unrelentingly High Crime, Energy prices through the roof, men playing in women’s sports, and HEARTACHE!”
Currently, both Democrats have leads in their respective races. In Virginia, Spanberger leads Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears by an average of 7.1 points in the polls, according to Real Clear Politics. The race is tighter in New Jersey, with Sherrill leading Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli 48.1% to 44%, according to Real Clear Politics.
