Children’s expands pediatric care to P.G.

Local health officials plan to ramp up access to pediatric care in areas of Prince George’s County with limited access to quality health care.

County Executive Rushern Baker and County Council Chairwoman Ingrid Turner, D-Bowie, signed an memorandum of understanding with officials from Children’s National Medical Center and Dimensions Healthcare System to bring mobile pediatric care to the county.

Officials have agreed to develop plans that would expand mobile pediatric services that Children’s National already provides in the District. The bus service would focus on areas of the county inside the Capital Beltway.

Children’s already operates four primary care centers and two specialty care centers in the county, and has a three pediatric care buses in service.

The memorandum is the second signed by Baker and county officials in recent months. Prince George’s is developing plans to bring a new $600 million teaching hospital to the county in conjunction with the University of Maryland Medical System and Dimensions.
