Bad place for half-naked nap
A Northern Virginia man was arrested in central Pennsylvania after police found him sleeping half-naked in day care center he allegedly broke into.
Police charge that 28-year-old Jerry Rattanavongsin, of Woodbridge, was found at a church day care building on Sunday, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reports. A neighbor of the church had called police, saying she heard someone pounding on the glass until it broke.
They found Rattanavongsin on the floor, confused and with his shirt off. Police say he has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass and vandalism.
Messy breakup
A woman angry over a breakup allegedly threw a container holding the ashes of ex-boyfriend’s mother through a window, the Gainesville (Fla.) Sun reports.
Police said 22-year-old Ashley Oxendine was picking up her belongs from the home where she had lived with her former boyfriend when the pair got into a fight. Oxendine allegedly scratched the man, hit his face, then threw the urn at a window.
The window broke and the ashes spilled. Oxendine is charged with domestic battery and criminal mischief, the newspaper reported.
Jailbird
Officials in southern Germany arrested a wild brown owl for public intoxication.
The owl, age undetermined, was spotted on the side of the road, apparently in a schnapps-induced haze, by a woman walking her dog, according to Der Spiegel. Police retained the suspect overnight and released him once he was treated by a local expert and sober.
Police said they think owl imbibed from two minibottles found near the point of arrest.
Beer free-for-all
A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property after using a metal pipe to break into a beer truck he said was poisoning the neighborhood.
After asking the driver to stop the delivery, Michael Sinclair swung at the truck for half an hour with a 54-inch metal pipe outside a grocery store, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
When he got tired, Sinclair sat and waited for police as passers-by took $2,000 in undamaged beer.
