City Sports to open fourth D.C. store

City Sports, the chain store specializing in equipment and apparel for urban athletes, is opening a Georgetown location in December.

With its large footprint — 10,434 square feet on M Street, to be exact — opening a new City Sports is no small economic feat and will signify pretty formidable competition for Georgetown Running and Revolution Cycles, one block west of City Sports’ future home.

The new store in Georgetown plans to have an electronics department where shoppers can test brands, a locker area for class participants and a refuel bar for energy food and sports drinks.

City Sports also has locations at Gallery Place, Farragut North and Bethesda Row in the Washington area.
