FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A smartphone app that helps users explore Kentucky history now has a new segment on the War of 1812.
The Kentucky Historical Society says the Explore Kentucky History app that was issued this summer now has the new section added. Smartphone users can download the app free of charge in the iPhone App Store or Google Play.

The first tour featured the Civil War, and regional tours and an Abraham Lincoln tour are to be released next year.
The app is based on the Kentucky Historical Marker Program and connects communities by combining the history behind historical markers, related items in the Kentucky Historical Society collections and user-submitted images and stories.
