SANTA MONICA (AP) — Police say a man with serious injuries was found on Santa Monica Beach and investigators are trying to determine if he was hit by a vehicle.
A police spokeswoman who identified herself only as Officer Gutierrez says someone called authorities early Sunday saying a man in the sand just north of Santa Monica Pier was crying for help.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Gutierrez says detectives are trying to figure out if the man was struck by a vehicle on the beach, or brought there after being run over elsewhere.
Last week a woman sunbathing on Venice Beach in the afternoon was run over by a Los Angeles County lifeguard vehicle. KCBS-TV says (http://cbsloc.al/1B06T3T ) she was hospitalized with internal injuries.
