Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is set to hit the campaign trail with GOP Senate candidate Todd Young in Indiana on Thursday.
Ernst, like Rep. Young, has military experience that served as a strong selling point for her Senate victory two years ago. The duo will campaign in Indiana on Thursday, where Young is expected to pick up the National Federation of Independent Business’ endorsement. Young is running to replace retiring GOP Sen. Dan Coats.
Iowa’s first female member of Congress is the latest Republican headliner to hit the trail for Young in Indiana. Former President George W. Bush and House Speaker Paul Ryan have held fundraisers with Young in the Hoosier State, and Arizona Sen. John McCain hit the trail with Young last weekend.
The Republican push in Indiana comes as the hotly contested Senate race featuring Young and former Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh hits its final days. The two major party candidates squared off on the debate stage on Tuesday night and hardly mentioned their parties’ nominees for president.
