Kevin Durant is putting up huge numbers in summer league games, including scoring 66 points at Rucker Park on Monday night. So what would be the streetball team we’d like to see?
5. C Josh Smith » He’s not a center for the Hawks, but he would be a perfect fit for that position on the streetball court with his athleticism and ability to defend the rim. At 6-foot-9, 240 pounds, Smith is big enough and can still run the floor.
4. PF Kevin Love » He’s not the flashiest player, but Love can rebound better than anyone in the NBA, and his fullcourt chest passes would be ideal to starting fast breaks. Surrounded by high-flying scorers, the Timberwolves forward would do the dirty work.
3. SF Kevin Durant » The two-time NBA scoring champion can get his shot off wherever and whenever he wants. He’s got a smooth stroke and can fill up the stat sheet. Did his 66-point performance surprise anyone?
2. SG J.R. Smith » Yes, he can be a knucklehead for the Nuggets, but his creative finishes in the NBA would be entertaining on the streetball court. On top of having breathtaking dunks, Smith also is one of the streakiest shooters with very deep range.
1. PG Rajon Rondo » The table-setter for this dream squad. Rondo has become one of the best passers in the league and wouldn’t have to worry about shooting much with this team. His defense and quickness also would lead to a lot of fast breaks.
