Nancy Grace and Dr. Drew have it out over legalizing marijuana

Oh, Nancy. Just weeks after gracing the internet with her marijuana debate with 2 Chainz, she’s served up another delightful bit of TV: her appalled reaction to discovering that fellow HLN star Dr. Drew is on the 2 Chainz side of this argument.

Grace kicked off the segment by arguing with Norm Kent from the pro-legalization group NORML. Kent slammed her scaremongering tactics, telling her, “I’m not going to let the isolated stories you drag off the internet impact and affect the millions of Americans who use marijuana responsibly and do not impair or impact society negatively.”

“Have you no conscience? When will this stop?” Kent demanded.

“I was really just looking for an answer to the question, but obviously you’re stoned,” Grace snapped.

But when she turned to Dr. Drew Pinsky, he informed her, “I agree with Norm, actually, believe it or not. The story you dragged out about the man eating a marijuana cookie could just as easily be a drug withdrawal symptom from the prescription drugs he was taking. In fact the cannabis may have just been incidental.”

Here’s a peek at how her face looked right about then:

“I’m a big fan,” Grace huffed in reply, “But you’re in our house now.”

“I’m advocating that the people should have what they want,” Dr. Drew told his apparently stunned host. “I do not think there’s any logic in calling a drug ‘good’ or ‘bad. If you want to call a drug good or bad then my God, we have to illegalize alcohol and tobacco too.”

Grace’s big “gotcha” moment, halfway through the segment, also fell a bit flat—after she triumphantly rolled a tape of Dr. Drew calling marijuana an addictive substance, he shot back, “I don’t disagree with anything I said. The addictive properties of a drug have nothing to do with it being a good or bad drug or whether it should or shouldn’t be legalized.”

Even when some of his co-hosts escalated the conversation to “what about meth?!”, the good doctor held his line: “They’re having good results with legalization of everything. It’s not for me to decide the laws. We deal with the health consequences.”

“I’m advocating that the people should have what they want,” he maintained.
