Ebbin lands Byrne endorsement in race for Ticer’s seat

Just days after Alexandria Councilman Rob Krupicka won the endorsement of Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., in his bid for state Senate, Del. Adam Ebbin, D-Alexandria, announced that he’s got the backing of former Rep. Leslie Byrne — who Connolly defeated in the 2008 11th District Democratic primary on his way to Congress.

Byrne, the first woman to represent Virginia in Congress, served from 1993 to 1995, and was the 2005 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.

“Adam represents the progressive leadership this Senate district deserves,” Byrne said. “I am proud to endorse him.”

Ebbin also has the backing of a slew of Northern Virginia delegates, while Arlington school board chairwoman Libby Garvey, the third Democratic candidate in the race, has the endorsement of retiring Sen. Patsy Ticer, D-Alexandria, who all three are seeking to replace.
