Patel releases doorbell camera footage of possible suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance

FBI Director Kash Patel released images Tuesday of a possible suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

The images were clipped from a video that was recovered from a doorbell camera and show someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices,” Patel said in an X post. “The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”

The series of photos shows the person’s hands wearing what appear to be leather gloves covering the camera. Patel said the person appeared to be armed and tampering with the doorbell camera.

Patel replied to the X thread and attached two videos that show the potential suspect grabbing branches from a nearby bush and placing them over the doorbell camera.

The photo release marks the latest development in the now 10-day search for the 84-year-old woman who authorities believe was taken from her home in the Tucson, Arizona area.

Law enforcement officials believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will after investigators found her front doorbell camera disconnected and drops of her blood on the porch. A ransom note demanded $6 million in Bitcoin for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie by Monday evening. Savannah Guthrie had previously stated her family was willing to pay the ransom, and she has issued pleas on social media to the alleged kidnappers asking for her mothers safe return.
