A front-page story in the Washington Post on Monday finally reveals the elusive reason for why President Trump is, without a doubt, a racist. The reason? Because the national media say so.
The report, by Philip Rucker and Ashley Parker, says that Trump is “vexed” at having been labeled a racist “even though some of his actions and words have been plainly racist.”
That’s a useful form of logic. If the media say this opinion is objectively true, then it is!
Let’s try that with other subject matter.
The West Bank belongs to the Jewish people. Why? Because Israel says it does!
The Bible is true. How do we know? Because the Catholic Church says it is!
President Trump didn’t obstruct justice. Who says? The Justice Department!
Wait, that last one is indisputably true, but you get the idea.
Nearly everything Trump has said in the past 30 days has been called “racist” by the media, when all of it has been explicitly not racist. The story in the Post did a nice job of summing them all up, stating that Trump had “used racist remarks to attack four congresswomen of color, maligned a majority-black Baltimore district as a ‘rat and rodent infested mess,’ and saw his anti-immigrant rhetoric parroted in a statement that authorities believe was written by a mass shooter.”
Once upon a time, “racist” meant the belief that one race was inherently superior to another. But the media have redefined the term so that “racist” now means to criticize anything that offends a Democrat.
If you’re going to call someone racist for simply speaking, shouldn’t that person have done something like, I don’t know, said something about race?
Trump told a group of Democrats to “go back” and clean up the places they came “from” before criticizing his administration. Assuming he was talking about Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, he had a point. Her short political career has been nothing more than one long criticism of the shortcomings of America, even as she’s only here after having fled war-torn Somalia. Trump also laced into Rep. Elijah Cummings’ district in Maryland because, like most Democratic cities, the poverty, crime, and tax-rates for blacks are all the same: high.
The ridiculous attempt to link Trump’s “rhetoric” to the mass shooting in El Paso is nothing more than an attempt to get anyone who believes in controlled borders to shut up. Trump has, to great political effect, been a critic of illegal immigration since 2015. It’s no surprise that Democrats and their media friends are looking for a reason to make that stop.
That’s more or less what the “racist” label is about. It’s an effort to get Trump to pipe down about the things that put Democrats on a weak defense.
If after four years Trump is in any way “vexed” about why Democrats and journalists are running around wildly calling him a “racist,” then he doesn’t need to be impeached over Russia. He needs to be impeached for being an idiot.
Unfortunately for Democrats, though, this is an area where he’s demonstrably not an idiot.
