Members of Congress share what they expect from Trump’s State of the Union

Ahead of the State of the Union address, members of Congress shared their hopes and expectations for President Donald Trump’s speech.

Many members of Congress stated they believe Trump will discuss all of the achievements from this past year.

“President Trump is really going to focus on wins from his first year in office,” Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) said. Alongside McClain, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) shared she hoped the success of Trump’s first year with a Republican Congress is on his speaking agenda tonight.

While many expect the president to talk about the successes he has made in this administration so far, other Congress members shared different answers.

“I think he is going to talk about how crazy the Left is,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said.

Rep. Tory Nehls (R-TX) said: “I think he’s going to spend a little bit of time talking about just how important these midterm elections are.”

“Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX) said: “The president has an awful lot to talk about. He mentioned, it might be a long speech.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton shares his hopes that Trump includes his future plans in his remarks.

CAN STATE OF THE UNION SAVE TRUMP’S RECORD-LOW IMMIGRATION APPROVAL RATING?

“I want him to celebrate America,” Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) said. “It’s the 250th anniversary of the greatest country on the planet.”
