The ACLU has rightly launched a lawsuit to defend the rights of a Muslim American who was discriminated against in his membership at an employee recreation center.
As the ACLU brief explains it, in September 2017, Munir Zanial, a member of the Spirit Boeing Employees’ Association and an employee of Spirit Aerosystems, hosted a party at SBEA’s recreational lake in Kansas. The party was to celebrate Eid-al Adhara, the holiest Islamic holiday, and Malaysian Independence Day.
However, because the SBEA board is evidently populated by a fair number of idiots, it complained that the Malaysian flag was actually a combination of Islamic State symbols and a desecrated U.S. flag.
The stupidity here is profound. As the two photos below show, ISIS flags are black with white Arabic writing on top. The Malaysian flag, on the other hand, is red, white, blue and yellow, and bears a slight resemblance to our own flag.

Anyone with a basic education might have thought to google national flags or recognize the Islamic crescent.
But the stupidity was just getting started. After all, the ACLU alleges that:
Of course, when the FBI investigated and found out that the party was harmless and that the flag was actually Malaysian, they ended their investigation.
But the SBEA wasn’t yet content with its escapade of idiocy. Oh no. Because next, the ACLU claims, the SBEA hired a private investigator to continue tracking Zanial. The SBEA then decided to withdraw Zanial’s membership benefits without telling him. The SBEA has not responded to a Washington Examiner request for comment.
If it has any sense of corporate responsibility, Spirit Aerosystems should fire the SBEA member employees responsible for Zanial’s treatment. But only after making those employees study a book full of world flags, so they can attain at least a third grade level of geographic knowledge.
