Police have identified a pedestrian who was struck by two cars in Prince William County and died Thursday night.
Howard Edward Rice, 42, of Woodbridge, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police responded to the incident at 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities said a 1999 Volvo S70 traveling eastbound on Dale Boulevard struck Rice as he was trying to cross the road near Forestdale Avenue. A 2006 Toyota Corolla traveling directly behind the Volvo was unable to avoid Rice after he was hit the first time, police said.
Police determined that Rice was crossing Dale in a dimly lit area outside of the crosswalk. Authorities do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors for either driver.
The two drivers and a passenger in the Volvo weren’t injured.
